Fancy Nintendo Cocktail Party

Posted in Event Photography on June 29, 2009 by gingerjacobs

Through my other blog, I was invited to a shwanky cocktail party thrown by Nintendo, especially for women. It was super cool. There were tons of DSi’s to play with, hot ladies to show you how, cocktails, and pretty set dressings. I busied myself photographing it all.

I love having photography for when I don’t know anyone at the party. It rules!

My friend Marguerite is super saucy. I wanted to capture that in her headshots. These are my favorites. She’s got such a twinkle!

Don’t you want to give her the part now?

A good friend of mine is getting her masters and did extensive research on this fine lady for a project. I got to sit in on their final interview.  It was such an honor to meet her and make her portrait.

I got to do some senior pictures a couple of weeks ago on the campus of Bellarmine. I was a little worried that perhaps my subject was being forced into getting them, or that he would be one of those teeenage boys who does not speak. It turned out I needn’t have worried. Ryan was great! He was a very cool kid, the kind that gives you hope for our future.

Here is the one I like the best. I didn’t mean it to, but that gate looks like wings to me. Ooh. I bet it would look better in black and white.

Here is the one he probably likes. He looks very model-y to me, here. And tough.

And here is the one his mom likes the best. Would you look at that smile? I think I had just told him we were almost done.

It was way fun. I like doing senior pictures.

Sometimes, it seems like a sitting isn’t going to go well, for whatever reason, and then because of the difficulty, it turns out awesome. The weather was pretty crappy the day we did these photos. It was raining, and windy, then all of a sudden super bright. It was messing with my metering left and right!

But, they brought umbrellas. Totally cute umbrellas. I could not have planned this, but they turned out so awesome!

Check this out. How cute is that? Making graffiti work for you!

It was such a joy taking your pictures, guys. Thanks for a great day!
